THE HISTORY MUSEUM IN CHIPROVTSI

The History Museum in Chiprovtsi holds artefacts from more that millennia-long history and culture of the region. Mining and great achievements of the Chiprovtsi goldsmith school (16-17 century), Catholicism role and place in Chiprovtsi, achievements of the large scale educational activities for the diplomatic and missionary activity of the local high Catholic clergy, Chiprovtsi uprising (1688 AD) and unique Chiprovtzi carpets are some of the well told stories here. You will learn also about church icon painting rituals and you will peak into the way of life and customs of Torlaks from many years ago. The Chiprovtsi region is also famous with it’s amazing carpets. Carpet weaving tradition is still alive here. Come and take part in one of the weaving workshops organized by The History Museum in Chiprovsi.
