Architectural, historical and artistic monument is Chiprovtsi Monastery "St. Ivan Rilski ”and the chapel“ St. Anastasius the Great ”of national importance Group I!

Founded in the tenth century, the monastery played an important role in the development of Chiprovtsi and the surrounding area! Many times destroyed and burned because it is a center of culture, faith and a hotbed of uprisings!

The movable national cultural heritage in the Municipality of Chiprovtsi can be seen in the city's Historical Museum and the Ethnographic Exposition to it in the city.

The movable cultural monuments in the Chiprovtsi Historical Museum are exhibited in 5 halls. In the first hall showing the development of mining in Chiprovtsi you can see Thracian, Roman and medieval objects, and the most valuable of all is a figure of the Mother Goddess. Types of ores that every visitor can touch are also exhibited in an interactive way. The second hall, which presents the Chiprovtsi Goldsmith's School, is rich in samples of metalworking in the XVI-XVII centuries. / bracelets, brooches, earrings, etc./. Some of the exhibits are presented with replicas, because most of the originals from the Chiprovtsi goldsmith school are stored in the hall "Zlatarstvo" in NIM - Sofia. In the third hall, the visitors of the museum touch the magic of the Chiprovtsi carpets. The hall is rich in different models of carpet fabrics during the three periods of development. The path of development of the carpet from the extraction of the wool to the very end of the carpet is shown.

In the hall, visitors can sit on the camp and learn to weave motifs from Chiprovtsi carpets. The carpet hall has a children's corner, where the little visitors of the museum can arrange puzzles with Chiprovtsi carpets and color books with carpet ornaments.

Documentary films related to Chiprovtsi weaving are presented.

In addition to the carpets in the hall, there are other valuables such as diplomas from world exhibitions and fairs at which Chiprovtsi carpets are presented by local traders. The fourth hall presents Chiprovtsi in the 17th century, the "Golden Age" of the city.

The hall is poorly represented in terms of movable cultural monuments, but it is rich in history. Valuables in it are the artifacts excavated at the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, namely crosses, medallions, rings, pottery and more. The last hall presents the Revival art. Icons, frescoes and other church objects are exhibited in it. The icons are from local monasteries and churches. The exhibited copies of frescoes from the 17th century from a non-existent church in the village of Zhelezna are kept in the church-monument “St. Al. Nevsky ”, in Sofia.

The Ethnographic Exposition at the Historical Museum presents objects from the life and culture of the Torlaks, from the urban life at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, as well as a Vingan room. Costumes, carpets, furniture, furniture, piano, Vingan costume, and Chiprovtsi wedding.

The historical museum has a depository with 6 departments for storage of objects. These are Ethnography - fabrics and carpets, as well as Ethnography - ceramics and wood. Department of Archeology and Department of Rare and Valuable Objects from the 15th to the 19th Century.

The Department of New and Recent History, as well as the Department of Art - Painting and Graphics complement the museum's fund.

Crafts - Carpet weaving is the only craft presented here. Other crafts such as pottery and furriery have been lost over time.

Traditions and folklore - Folklore and traditions are associated with religious holidays. Cheese Zagovezni, Christmas and Jordan's Day are the most revered. Also the votive crosses on which a sacrifice is made.

Culinary - Typical dishes for the Bulgarian ethnographic group of Chiprovtsi torlaks are beetroot and sorrel leaf soup, imposed pie with traditional hand-rolled Chiprovtsi crusts, kneaded peppers (stuffed dried peppers with beans) and fried (mixed local seasonal vegetables in a pan).
